Law students are increasingly looking for ways to learn about the law and how to become lawyers, and they’re increasingly taking advantage of the internet.
Law students at top law schools are using technology to learn and get to know the industry and other law students, while also taking advantage on social media and their own blogs.
This week, Polygon spoke to some of the top law school students to find out what they’re using the internet for and what their social media profiles look like.
We’ll be covering the latest trends in technology, law, and law school admissions in the coming weeks.1.
What do you want to learn to be a lawyer?
“I think that the main thing I want to know is what do I need to be doing in order to be able to pursue a career in law, so that I can be able do what I want as an attorney and make a living, rather than being a victim of circumstance and getting laid off or going to the bar and making my living,” said Elizabeth K. Jones, a sophomore at Yale Law School.
She says she plans to major in international relations, which she plans on pursuing after graduating.
“I want to be the one person who has the most knowledge of how the world works and how the law is actually worked.
That’s what I’m interested in.
I want the knowledge that will allow me to make an informed decision.”2.
What websites do you use to learn more about the industry?
“Most law schools, for instance, have an intern section, so if you’re an intern, you’re essentially a lawyer and they want to see you as a lawyer,” said Andrew A. Zaremba, an associate professor at Yale University’s School of Law.
“They want to work with you, and it’s a very different experience, and if you can make it that way, then that’s what you’re going to be working with.”3.
What kind of law school do you plan on attending?
“My major, I have no idea, but I want it to be one that really focuses on what is going on with the law, rather the things that are happening in the world today,” said Michael D. Eichler, an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri.
“There’s a lot going on in the law world today, and I want my degree to be something that’s relevant to that.”4.
What kinds of apps are you using to learn?
“The thing that’s really interesting about the social media stuff, and the things I’m actually using as I’m going through this, is I don’t know if you saw the one about a woman who got pregnant and got an abortion,” said Erika K. Williams, a freshman at University of New Mexico.
She’s also a law student at Georgetown University.
“She’s pregnant and she has a baby, and she’s trying to figure out what to do, and her boyfriend has just been cheating on her.
And she’s really, really concerned that she’s going to have a baby that she won’t be able help with.
And this is a woman that is extremely concerned about what that would be like.
And I think that’s kind of the point, right?
She’s a person who’s really looking at the consequences of what her situation is, and then trying to make the best decisions she can.”5.
What is your favorite technology app?
“Honestly, I’ve got a pretty limited list of apps, but what I love to use most is the Google Play Store, where you can download a lot of different apps,” said James A. Hovater, an assistant professor at Harvard Law School’s School for International and Public Affairs.
“You can get a really great law library.
And then you can do a lot more research with that.”6.
What types of law schools do you like?
“There are definitely some good schools,” said Zarenga.
“A lot of schools that I’m not familiar with are really focused on the areas that they focus on, and so I think a lot can be gained from looking at that.
And so there’s certainly a lot to like, especially for those who are looking for a more liberal arts background.”7.
Do you have any advice for law students considering a law career?
“Don’t be afraid to say, ‘I don’t want to do this,'” said Eichlers.
“It’s not like it’s going away and it won’t change your life.
You’ll see that it can change the life of somebody else in your life, but don’t let that stop you from doing what you want.
Just be ready for it, and that’s just as true for your career as it is for your own.
It’s the same with anything.”8.
What advice would you give to young people looking to go into the law?
“That’s something I really think law school is going to need to address,” said K.W. Williams.
“The issue is
