The attorneys are out in force.
And it’s not just the attorneys.
A former U.S. attorney general and now an attorney general nominee, Chris Lacey, who spent more than two decades on the federal bench, said the lawyers are “in a position to intimidate people, to make false statements.”
“They are trying to silence people,” Lacey said, referring to the Trump administration.
“They have an incentive to say what they want to say.”
This week, the Supreme Court handed down a 5-4 decision in favor of the Trump-appointed lawyers in the civil case against former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
“I’m disappointed with this decision, but I’m not surprised.
I’ve seen it before,” said Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who was appointed by Trump to serve on the court’s conservative wing.
In a written statement released this week, Justice Elena Kagan wrote, “The president’s decision to fire Mr. Lewandowski does not relieve him of his constitutional responsibility to obey the law.”
But that’s not enough to stop the Trump supporters who are upset by the judge’s decision.
A video circulating on social media this week shows a group of angry people chanting “We want him gone!” and yelling at the judge.
One person says, “I want to punch him in the face.
He deserves it.
He’s an idiot.”
“That’s what they’re going to get for not being able to answer questions,” said one woman.
The group also is seen throwing a chair, and a man is heard saying, “We have to go out there and make a stand.
We have to fight back.”
Another woman said she was told that “the lawyers are gonna be going out and getting people killed,” and she believes that’s what is happening.
“I’m thinking, ‘Who is going to tell me what to do?
Who’s going to help me?
Who is going the right way?'””
I think that we’ve seen this before,” Lacy said.
“If I was a lawyer, I would be saying, ‘You know what?
That’s what you are, and you should be fired.’
I would go out and get people killed.”
The video, posted to YouTube on Friday, was posted by a group called Americans for Justice, which has called for a boycott of the judge in the Lewandowski case.
This is the same group that, earlier this month, filed a petition to impeach Judge Kagan, a Republican who has been appointed by President Trump to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in January.
The petition argues that the judge was “excessively partisan” and “overstepped her role” by “unmasking” Trump campaign adviser Carter Page during the presidential transition.
When the Supreme Courts declined to hear the impeachment case against Judge Kaggan, Americans for Defense of Democracies, a liberal advocacy group, filed an impeachment petition on her behalf.
The White House has defended her decision, saying it was based on a “consensus of the American people.”
One woman who was there in person, Rachel Jones, is worried that Trump supporters are planning to march through the courthouse and harass people.
She said she is worried about the safety of the other people inside the building.
“The Trump supporters have gotten a little bit violent.
And they’re getting pretty close to the courthouse,” Jones said.
Trump supporters are also calling for a rally outside the courthouse on Saturday, and they’re holding signs saying “Justice for Lewandowski.”
In the video, one person is seen yelling at Lacey for “hiding behind the lawyers.”
“I was really shocked by that comment.
And I think they’re gonna see that and think, ‘Oh, these are the guys.
They’re gonna come out here and intimidate us,'” Lacey responded.
I have no idea what that means.
But I think what he was saying is, ‘I’ll go out on the courthouse, and I’m gonna tell everybody to get their lawyers out.’
“I mean, I think that’s pretty clear.
You know, he’s just gonna be out there talking.
Another person says: “I hope you get fired.”
