If you’re considering getting married, you need a family lawyer who has experience working in divorce, custody and support cases.
The good news is that family law is a growing field, and the demand for family law attorneys is rising, too.
That’s why it’s a good time to consider hiring one of these attorneys, said Sarah Hines, the director of legal research for the National Employment Law Project (NELP).
In a survey of more than 3,000 attorneys across the country conducted by NELP, nearly a quarter said they’ve seen an increase in job offers in recent months.
In addition, the demand is increasing for family lawyers who specialize in assisting families facing financial hardship.
For instance, family law attorney Sarah Hinsen says her clients often ask her how to navigate their financial situation after filing for bankruptcy or receiving a temporary restraining order.
The law is changing, she said, and her clients want someone to help them navigate it.
“If you want to get your spouse back together, it’s important that you’re able to work on a legal solution that is going to work for both of you,” Hinesen said.
“That means understanding what the law is about, how it affects your spouse and how it’s going to affect your children.”
Hinesens clients are often faced with complex financial issues, including bankruptcy and child support.
And many of her clients are elderly and are likely to live alone or with someone with a disability.
For these clients, family lawyers are ideally suited to provide assistance and to assist in resolving disputes.
The key is understanding the law and being able to understand what the rules are, Hinesent said.
For example, she has clients who are looking to avoid filing for divorce, and their spouse is looking to get a divorce.
If they can work out an agreement to resolve their issues in a fair and just way, they can have a much better relationship, she explained.
Another key skill, she added, is to understand the law as it applies to the parties involved, and how to help both parties understand what is at stake.
“People want to understand that if you want a divorce, you have to get it in the right place and to the right people, Hinsens said.
But Hinesents experience has also shown that her clients, who often come from a lower socioeconomic background, are often more vulnerable than their counterparts who come from more affluent families. “
You have to understand both sides of the issue,” she said.

“There are certain things that family lawyers have to be prepared for,” Hinsent said, noting that a divorce attorney can help her clients avoid getting into trouble financially, such as not having enough money to pay child support, not being able in some cases to get legal representation and the like.
And even if the divorce is successful, there’s still the matter of custody and visitation rights.
When it comes time to file for divorce and custody of children, Hires said, it pays to get help from a family attorney.
“When you file for a divorce and the children are not living together, you are more likely to have issues with that divorce,” Hinosens said, adding that she can see a lot of her former clients struggle in a divorce case.
When working on the custody and custody issue, she suggests clients focus on their child’s best interests and ask what the best course of action is.
Hinesed said that when it is time to get custody of a child, family attorneys can help by making sure they have a good idea of how the child’s relationship is going.
For that reason, she recommends working with a family court judge to find the best place to file the divorce.
The best thing that a family lawyers can do for her clients is help them make a good decision on the divorce, she noted.
If a court agrees to a divorce in a family friendly way, Hinosent said she thinks it will help both the parties.
“It’s a win-win situation,” Hiosen said, “because when they get custody, they get the child and they get money and they can get on with their lives.”
But even if a divorce does get filed, the best thing family attorneys should do is to take care of their clients, she stressed.
“I’ve seen a lot more divorces and more parents who are in custody disputes,” Hineys said.
It can be challenging for family attorneys to help clients navigate a divorce process, but they have the best chance of succeeding when they can understand the issue in a timely manner and communicate that to their clients.
“The most important thing is to get the best information you can get,” Hensens said about the court process.
“They’re going to ask you questions.
